Detecting Viable Fire Blight Pathogens in Apple Bark: How Improved DNA Extraction Enables Deeper Insight
This study demonstrates how improved sample processing and high-efficiency DNA extraction enable sensitive detection of viable Erwinia amylovora cells in apple bark, including those in a viable but nonculturable state often missed by traditional methods. Omega Bio-tek’s E.Z.N.A.® DNA extraction kits played a key role by delivering high-quality, inhibitor-free DNA, supporting accurate ddPCR-based pathogen detection in challenging plant tissues.
