The solution integrates the novel extraction chemistry on the Hamilton Microlab® STAR™ liquid handling platform to provide a high throughput solution for applications such as biorepositories, genomics research, and pharmacogenomics that require substantial amounts of DNA to be extracted from large-volume samples.
There are several kits and automated workflows on the market that can process blood samples with volumes in the range of 100-250µL but not many options exist for volumes as high as 10mL. With Omega Bio-tek’s new automated workflow, twenty-four 10 mL blood samples can be processed in 2.5 hours without compromising on DNA yield and quality.
The robust performance of this automated workflow ensures high molecular weight DNA extraction making it attractive for third generation sequencing technologies such as those produced by Pacific Biosciences and Oxford Nanopore that requires longer single molecule DNA fragments.
