Rapidly lyses cells and tissues and inactivate RNases at room temperature

- +

The RNA-Lock Reagent is an innovative reagent which rapidly lyses cells and tissues to inactivate RNases at room temperature. Simply submerge the samples, such as cell cultures, animal tissues, and white blood cells into the RNA-Lock Reagent. The intact cellular RNA will be preserved even at elevated temperature. Samples preserved in RNA-Lock Reagent remain stable for up to 2 weeks at 4 °C for tissues or 4 weeks at 4 °C for cells without compromising integrity.

RNA-Lock Reagent is suitable for small sample inputs, delivering reliable preservation from 10–20 mg of animal tissue or 3 × 10⁵ to 1 × 10⁶ cultured cells.

Maintains High Integrity RNA from Cells for up to 4 Weeks at 4°C

Figure 1. TapeStation® analysis of RNA purified from cells stored at 4°C in RNA-Lock reagent for 4 weeks (n=4) vs a control group of cells (n=3) that were stored at -80°C and homogenized in RNA-Lock reagent on the day of testing. All samples show high integrity RNA with RINe values greater than 8.6, indicating minimal degradation and suitability for downstream applications.

RNA yields and quality extracted from cells stored at 4°C in RNA-Lock reagent for 4 weeks (n=4) vs a control group of cells (n=3) that were stored at -80°C and homogenized in RNA-Lock reagent on the day of testing were measured using Thermo Scientific’s NanoDrop™ 2000c. All samples showed high RNA concentrations, with A260/A280 purity ratios within the optimal range of 2.0-2.2, indicating high-quality total RNA. This demonstrates the stability of cells stored in RNA-Lock Reagent for up to four weeks at 4°C.
